they say “women in love, glow different”
I agree, they glow
sometimes from the smile their lover gifted
and sometimes from their tear stained cheeks
they radiate “sunlight” they say
and what about her moon?
they do seem golden in love
but it’s just the light before the dark
and before they know it their yellow will be
cold grey all over again
and it’ll be summer all over again
they say women in love “rise”
but what if their wings are thrashed?
and their dreams are shattered
and their eyes sleepless
they say women in love are at peace
then why am I writing this at 4 a.m?
I say women in love are
broken
broken is the girl who gave him the world
broken is the woman who thought her love could change a man
after all,
you could be a good girl
or a pretty one or a powerful one
but the ones you really love will always mess you up
cause women in love might be pretty
but men in love? that’s not a thing here.
