These days many activists around the world are voicing women empowerment. Many of them are voicing this because every day there are many injustices faced by women all over the world. These activists condemn all abuses committed against women and demand the world to open its eyes so that women’s empowerment and gender equality can be realized. They have done many ways, although some developed countries are aware of the importance of empowering women, there are still many countries out there that are still ignorant about this.

Empowerment of women

Before we start, let’s learn about what women’s empowerment is. Empowerment of women is a way that is done by various parties so that all women in the world can be recognized and realize their potential that can be useful for the life to come. This raises pros and cons because since ancient times women were considered inferior to men, this stereotype is what we find ourselves in and unconsciously encounter in today’s modern world. Women are also considered weak and incompetent in dealing with problems and work, they are often considered a burden so they are not allowed to take part in important matters such as example in the field of government.

Existence of several cases

When it comes to women’s empowerment, it cannot escape the existence of several cases, for example in Indonesia during the colonial era, women’s empowerment was not just a joke for the people of that era. They treat women only as housekeepers and conduits of lust for men. The women of that era were not allowed to take education so they were often considered stupid. This anxiety occurs continuously. As the times progressed, many women came out to voice gender equality, Indonesian have a National Hero named Raden Ajeng Kartini. She is very persistent in conveying her voice about women’s rights. Her struggles are neatly arranged in history books and serve as guidelines for Indonesian women today to be willing to fight for their rights. As a result, many intelligent women are now found in Indonesia, they are already able to take on important roles not only in daily life but even in the field of government.

With the empowerment of women, gender equality which was once very difficult to achieve is now possible, women can find jobs as they please so that the poverty ratio can be reduced. Not only that, the empowerment of women, also demands sexual education so that harassment and rape cases can be greatly reduced in Indonesia. Even in the future, the future of women can be guaranteed because the stigma and stereotypes that were once held firmly by the Indonesian people have now been removed. From this, it can be seen that Raden Ajeng Kartini’s struggles have paid off, who would have thought that what she had been fighting for from the start could change people’s views about women.

All regions of Indonesia

Unfortunately, this does not apply evenly in all regions of Indonesia. There are still many women out there who are constrained by old rules that lock their potential to advance. Usually, they are in remote areas so it is difficult to change the stigma there. Fortunately, the internet has now spread, and almost all areas in Indonesia have been covered by the internet. With the internet, the women’s empowerment movement will gradually become more massive in Indonesia, so that this country can become a better country in the future.

Final Word

In conclusion, women’s empowerment is an activity that must be voiced frequently. Women’s potential is so great that it’s a shame if we waste it. Women are also human, they have the same rights as men, even some women have been proven in history to be able to match the power of men. Don’t look down on women because women are the ones who gave birth to us all. So in return, we must seek their rights so that all can live in harmony. Let’s enforce this activity together so that women who don’t have the power to speak can be represented so that they don’t get discouraged in seeking justice.

In my point of view, women’s empowerment is a very positive activity, we can learn a lot in this activity. Respecting the rights of women and not arbitrarily treating them is a powerful message to voice. Honestly, I also saw the injustice experienced by the women around me, at that time the whole community considered it normal because it often happened at that time. Now with the advancement of technology, people have started to realize and leave the old rules for a better life.
