Domestic violence is an act of violence that is generally carried out by a husband against his wife within the scope of the household or violence that occurs in marriage. The victims are women who are likely to be hit, have their hair pulled, slapped, dragged, abused, and even murder. Currently, many cases of divorce are being found in society due to violence.

Factors that cause domestic violence include differences in arguments between husband and wife, misunderstandings, infidelity, economic problems, and problems outside the household that are vented on the wife. However, sometimes some wives of perpetrators of domestic violence still do not want to separate and remain in their household because the children still need the role of a father, still love the man, want to maintain the household, want to maintain the family’s good name, do not want to disappoint the family, and so on. But even though there are many reasons, it cannot be denied that domestic violence is wrong behavior and an act that is against the law.

The impacts felt by victims of domestic violence are excessive stress that results in depression, trauma to have a relationship with a man and not having trust in a man, often feeling anxious because of worrying about various things, using illegal drugs to treat anxiety, and can make someone think about ending their life. In addition, domestic violence also has a negative impact on children if they witness it, such as making children feel inferior or not confident and often separating themselves from their friends at school so that they can have few friends compared to some other children and reducing children’s activity at school, and can affect the development and future of children, This causes children to become less good individuals and their free association. Therefore, we need to take some precautions so that domestic violence does not occur, including:

1. Choosing a husband who is responsible and understands how to run a good household.

2. Learning and understanding religious teachings.

3. Being honest and open about various things between each other.

4. Establishing good communication.

5. Cultivating an attitude of mutual trust and not easily assuming the worst of your partner.

6. Discuss all problems with a cool head.

7. Love each other and look after your partner.

8. Accept the various advantages and disadvantages of your partner.

If we find a case of domestic violence, what we can do is:

1. Collect evidence to report it to the authorities.

2. Have a direct conversation with your husband, if you don’t find a solution, you can discuss it with your family.

3. Don’t be afraid to tell close friends or relatives.

4. Seek help from other people.

5. Avoid perpetrators of domestic violence by living in a place that feels safe first before the problem can be resolved, for example staying at the home of parents or closest relatives.

Apart from these steps and methods, the most important thing is not to depend on a man by becoming an independent woman who can generate your own income and look for a good man, first investigate the man’s background and behavior before going to a more serious level. Prove that we women have self-esteem that will continue to be maintained until we die, dare to act to express our voices or opinions. Women are not weak creatures of God, in fact they are strong creatures of God in every situation. Don’t be afraid if you are alone, everyone will support you.
