Many problems spread across various social media platforms are caused by the actions of society regarding patriarchy, where the thinking of a group of people considers women to be far below men. If this thinking is ingrained in society, then what will definitely happen next is domestic violence. Patriarchy is one of the factors causing domestic violence. Many people think that men always have a position far above women. This is where arbitrary treatment of women arises. In addition, the existence of double standards among parents who worship men makes them feel more and more that they are the controllers of women.

Judging from several stories that spread on social media, Indonesia is a country where patriarchy often occurs. One of them occurs because of the doctrine of the male partner’s parents, who always favor their children. Always blaming women if household chores are not carried out. For them, a man’s job is only to provide for the family. In fact, what is actually happening today is that not a few women also work. Then they think that women’s duties include everything in their household. In fact, taking care of the household is the duty of everyone in it.

Patriarchy always ends in domestic violence. Not a few women can actually fight back. But some of them think that their strength is not as great as men’s, and think about what will happen if they fight back, such as the lack of individuals on their side, which makes women think twice about fighting violence. So, patriarchy must end in a household relationship that is always controlled by men. Then if men don’t get what they want, they will definitely belittle women even more by repeating the violence. So this will always be a cycle in their household.

One of the factors causing patriarchy is the higher rank of the man. They will glorify their position even to their own partners. Especially when the parents of the male partner do not want to let go of their child, so they always interfere in household affairs. Then the woman’s thinking that the household is the business of the 2 people in it, will make the atmosphere even more murky. The injustice here makes the woman’s psychological condition suffer even more.

Patriarchy can be stopped if society’s thinking about women’s status is equal to men’s. So, what can we do to eliminate or at least reduce this problem? First, we can voice feminism; a movement carried out to change the mindset of several groups of people so that they start to consider gender equality. In addition, achieve your ideals as high as possible to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of patriarchy. Then, we can make a prenuptial agreement with our partner so that things we don’t want don’t happen. And we must really know our partner’s character before deciding to get married.

If this problem has already occurred after marriage, one way to solve this problem is to empower social media as a place to speak up. Tell your parents or friends who can be trusted. And then, collect all evidence of violence, and immediately go to the nearest police station, because this problem can be followed up. Fight all forms of violence, so that men are no longer arbitrary towards women, and there are no more cases like this in the future. Realize that even though we are not as strong as them physically, we can fight it. Domestic violence can be reduced by eliminating patriarchy in society. However, what is currently happening is that society tends to think that women are far below men. so that currently there is a lot of violence against women. in this case, women must also change their nature of dependence on men, so that women no longer look weak.
