We’re living in an age of ones and zeros and this fast track to digital paradise has created a new breed of professional; a person who works online, which might be directly employed for a company or freelancing or run their own business. The list of occupations that come under the digital nomad umbrella is indeed long.

Travelling while working

Of course, the biggest plus of working remotely is that you can travel and work at the same time. You can take that apartment in Sydney for rent for the time you plan to stay in Australia, and with build-to-rent, you are free to leave at any time without penalty. There is a circuit that Aussie digital nomads use; they spend a few months in Bali, then head to the south of Thailand for the dry season, then onto Vietnam, perhaps Ha Long, then back home for the summer. Three-month visas are available and even with air travel, you live cheaply in Southeast Asian countries.

Build-to-rent

This is a new concept in renting your home, with no bond to pay and no restrictions; you can come and go as you please. Your pet is as welcome as you are, and the management are always there to help; there are more build-to-rent projects emerging in Australian cities to cater for the rise in number of digital entrepreneurs.

Easy money transfers

Things are changing when it comes to moving money around, making it easy to conduct business across digital platforms. There are many cash apps that nomads can use, depending on where you are, which helps the entrepreneur travel around. There are finance companies such as Wise that enable you to transfer money within minutes.

Low cost of living

When you compare life in Thailand or Vietnam with Australian prices, you understand why digital nomads prefer to live in a tropical paradise; even when you factor in the airfares, travelling is still affordable if you stay in countries with a low cost of living. Managing your business from a laptop

When you walk into a busy coffee shop, there are probably a few DNs working in the corner; shared workspaces allow you to network and with unlimited data SIM cards, you can work anywhere by using your smartphone’s hotspot feature.

Airbnb

This is the preferred platform when it comes to accommodation; you can find all types of accommodation for both long and short term rental; there is no need to use any other platform when looking for accommodation.

If you use a build-to-rent apartment as your base, you have the flexibility to travel and always have your home base to return to. If you are thinking of going freelance, you need to register with the Australian government, then you can file tax returns every year and hire a local bookkeeper.
