On the first day of the games, India Opened the medal’s tally by winning the silver medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020. Mirabai Chanu earned a silver medal in the women’s 49-kg weightlifting category. India is heading not only in the Olympics but also in other games.

Priya Malik has won the Gold Medal in the 2021 World Cadet Wrestling Championships which was held in Hungary. Many Indians mistakenly congratulated her for the Olympics victory which is ongoing in Tokyo.

Priya won the gold medal in the women’s 73 kg weight category by defeating Belarus wrestler Kseniya Patapovich by scoring 5-0 in the final game. Though it’s not from the Olympics, it shouldn’t be belittled by any means. She hails from Jind Haryana and is the daughter of veteran Indian army Jayabhagwan Nidani and she completed her education at Choudhary Bharat Singh Memorial School.

Priya Malik has been consistently good performing for the last two years and she has won the gold medals in 2019 Khelo India in Pune, the 2019 17th School Games in Delhi, and the 2020 National Cadet Championship in Patna.

Her outstanding performance doubles India’s joy and it was led to the Twitter storm with congratulatory messages. Politicians, ministers, superstars as well as many celebrities, personally tweeted about her victory and gave her best wishes.
