Self-care is very much essential for our life. In this busy world everyone is busy with their own work. We do not even have time for ourselves. In this article we are going to learn about many ways by which we can take time out for ourselves in our busy schedule.

We should always do many types of yoga, exercises for half an hour. We should do Dhanurasana. It improves our breathing. We can do many types of yoga and their benefits are good. For example, Tadasana helps us to make our height longer. If we do not exercise or do yoga we will feel unhealthy and tired. Exercise makes our muscles strong. Lack of exercise loosens our muscles and makes it weak. Exercise also makes our internal organs stronger such as stomach, heart, etc. Lack of exercise can also cause improper functioning of internal organs. Along with yoga and exercise our body also needs a proper amount of food. We should eat healthy food. Roughage and water are also required to maintain a healthy life. Roughage is a part of food that cannot be digested by our body. It helps in the process of digestion and helps our body to get rid of waste materials. Water is very much essential for our body. We cannot live without it. About 2-3thirds of our body weight is water. If we eat unhealthy food for a long period of time we will get many types of diseases.

There are two types of diseases:

1. Infectious diseases/Communicable diseases

2. Non-Infectious diseases/Non-Communicable diseases

Communicable diseases/Infectious diseases:

Communicable diseases are the diseases that can spread from one person to another. Example: Covid-19, measles, dengue, typhoid, jaundice, etc.

Non-Communicable disease/Non-Infectious Disease:

Non-Communicable diseases are the diseases that do not spread from one person to another are called Non-Communicable diseases. Example: Rickets, Anemia, Night-blindness, goiter, allergy, etc.

Communicable diseases can spread through some ways:

  • Through infected food and water
  • Through damaged skin
  • Through insects
  • Through direct contact
  • Through air
    Through infected food and water:
If the food is uncovered, the flies will sit on it and when the healthy person eats that food he gets an infection.
    Through damaged skin:
If we have any cut and we do not cover that place with bandages, the dust present in air can go to that place and we will get an infection.
    Through insects:
When a mosquito bites an infected person and becomes the carrier of disease and when that mosquito bites a healthy person that person also gets that disease.
    Through direct contact:
When we meet a person having fever and we use that person’s toys, handkerchief, etc. we also get fever.
    Through air:
When an infected person coughs, sneezes or spits and the healthy person breathes that air he also gets the disease.
    Ways to prevent from communicable:
  • Germs and insects breed in garbage. We should put garbage in covered bins.
  • Sunlight kills germs. We should keep windows open to let sunlight in.
  • Use disinfectants to clean floors, drains, bathrooms, etc.
  • Use antiseptics to clean wounds, cuts, etc.
  • Mosquitoes can breed in stagnant water. We should not keep stagnant water in our surroundings
  • We should use mosquito repellents and mosquito nets to prevent mosquito bites.
  • Use insecticides to kill germs
  • Stay away from the infected people and their belongings.
  • Boil drinking water for at least 10-15 minutes to kill germs.

Immunization is very much essential as self-care is. We should take vaccines to prevent disease. Vaccines are the special substances which are made up of dead or very weak germs or the substances made by these germs. When the vaccine is injected into our body our body becomes capable of any future attacks. This is called immunity against a particular disease.

We have many tasks to do in our daily routine. We have no time for doing exercise & yoga. But along with the daily routine we should take time for exercise & yoga. We should wake up early in the morning and go for a walk. It makes us feel fresh and we do not feel tired the entire day. Afterwards we should eat fresh fruits. And then we can do our work. Children should watch the mobile for 15 minutes. If they had their online classes they can use the mobile.  After online classes they should go to the balcony and see the green trees. It helps to keep good eyesight. They should play outdoor games and go to the park for their refreshment. They should sleep early at 9:00 p.m. they should watch motivational videos and learn about freedom fighters. Now, in our Earth is in very critical condition for Covid-19. We should not go to outside. We have to do our online classes. We shouldn’t eat unhealthy foods. If we will eat unhealthy foods then our stomach will pain and we will suffer from diseases. We should maintain our health in this corona period. We should eat a lot amount of vitamin B1 and C. Vitamin B1 helps in proper functioning of nerves and heart. Example: milk, fish, beans, meat, whole grains, etc. Vitamin C helps in daily development and for growth. Example: tangerine, orange, lemon, citrus fruits, etc.
