Humanitarian crises in Palestine, Sudan, the Republic of Congo, Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Haiti, Afghanistan, and many more are continuously faced by millions worldwide. Genocidal crimes, inhumane violence, hunger, and malnutrition among children, drought disasters due to disrupted irrigation systems, endless wars and conflicts, and many other issues continue to plague these regions. Day by day, living conditions worsen, with people feeling increasingly unsafe and threatened.
As narrated in a video by Mata Najwa, “At the borders and every area in Palestine, there is a rarely revealed bitter reality. Amidst the turmoil of conflict and the noise of political elites, there are human stories trapped between power and suffering. Behind posts and fundraising platforms lies a plea. A plea to be freed from the never-ending labyrinth of violence. Behind that plea, lies a reality even bleaker than what we see in the media.”
The lack of adequate food sources to meet community needs, rampant disease outbreaks, and the most heartbreaking causes of inhumane deaths—from murder and genocide to hunger and malnutrition—crisis-stricken conditions also cause some of them to die due to the difficulty of reaching aid falling from aid planes. Why are children and babies the most affected? Where are the children who should be able to grow up with the love of parents, adequate nutrition, comfortable housing, and education facilities, which are entitled to them to build their futures in their countries?
On the contrary, they are able to obtain this. Living life as an orphaned child without family without relatives, dying without a home, without food, without proper clothing, without adequate health facilities, without educational facilities. what the world’s efforts to deal with this? When will this disaster end? where their humanity? this is what they deserve? What are they wrong? The world’s efforts to protect those who deserve a decent life and justice. Humanitarian crisis is often described as a major storm that hits without mercy, destroys lives, shatters dreams, and leaves deep wounds. In every crisis, there is a whisper from the people, hope, like a fire that never extinguishes. Simple hope worthy of their lives. In the midst of this wreckage, I see fearful faces, eyes losing the joy of happiness. Oh God, comfort them, strengthen them. Give us all the strength to survive, to strengthen each other in the midst of this suffering. Like the roots of interconnected trees underground, we want to be strong together, holding onto faith and hope. , when the sound of war silenced the silence of the night, only our prayers echoed to the sky. Hear our lamentation, O Lord, and give them peace. Like rain cooling dry soil, let your grace descend upon us, heal their wounds, and rekindle the nearly extinguished hope.
“The war will end, the leaders will shake hands. The old woman will keep waiting for her martyred son. That girl will wait for her beloved husband. And those children will wait for their heroic father. I don’t know who sold our homeland but I saw who paid the price.” – Mahmoud Darwish
