Eid, the festival of love, is kindled with an embrace. Love is blessed through embracing at this festival. In many parts of India, Eid is celebrated. Eid is specifically celebrated by Muslims. This festival is a part of Islam. Eid basically marks the end of the month of Ramadhan. People started preparing for Eid a few months ago with enthusiasm. It is an Islamic festival with numerous rituals and customs. The eid in itself is rich in elements of diversity.
The whole story of Eid emerges and is solely dependent upon the moon. On the twenty-ninth day of the month Ramadhan, Islamic committees, through their telescopes, search for the crescent. If the crescent is seen, then Eid is on the next day; if not, then it is on the following day. On the day when the awaited crescent is seen, people start greeting each other with “Chaand Mubarak,” which translates to “ Have a blessed night of the new moon .” It does sound very perplexing, but that is how it works.
The festival of Eid is celebrated for two days in India as well as globally. The day before Eid is known as “Arfa” and it is during this time that people create chaos in the market by purchasing their favourite foods for Eid, sweet drinks, and items to make their homes synonymous with happiness. On Arfa (the day before Eid ), all the girls and women apply henna on their hands with eloquent designs. Not only women, but also men, begin to prepare their traditional attire, which includes Kurta Pyjamas. The day, Eid, marks its first day.
All the people celebrating it wake up at dawn to offer their Eid prayers with all the faith lingering in them. Then, people greet each other with warm wishes. The most common one is Eid Mubarak, which translates to “Blessings of the Eid day“. When the families come together, all of them tend to have a sweet thing first. On Eid mornings, there is Kashmiri Kehwa brewing on the dining table, and there are a lot of traditional foods. At this festival, helping is at the utmost in people’s activities. As a gift to children, Eidi is given, which is basically money. Families visit each other for Eid greetings.
Eid is reminiscent of nostalgia. To some people, Eid seems like a gift, for it is the day when the month of fasting marks its end. Eid has a unique aspect in that people visit the graves of their loved ones, placing flowers and humming godly words. Both the days of Eid are similar; just the second day has a little less amusement. During Eid, be it a poor peasant or a rich man, all of them wear new clothes. Every year, Eid is celebrated with peace and happiness.
The real essence of Eid is sharing love through little elements of life that will benefit the ones who have a longing for it. When Eid arrives, it teaches numerous things to all the people who celebrate it. It teaches them to be grateful and share love. That’s what Eid is all about. reflecting brotherhood through small yet merciful acts. Throughout India, Eid is celebrated with bliss. Eid, with it, brings communal harmony.
On Eid, non-Muslims tend to help the ones celebrating it. That is the essence of Eid: it brings people together, whether for a single day or for a lifetime. The people who are desperate for financial aid are financially supported by charities, the kids are happy, and much more. Eid leaves behind spots of love, peace, and harmony.
