Everybody wants their home to look great in order to please their own aesthetic and make a good impression on visitors. The thing is, your tastes can change over the years, and there may come a day when you look around your home and wonder why in the world you chose that paint colour, or that particular style of flooring? What pleased you back then no longer pleases you now, and you feel dissatisfied with how the place looks. Well, nothing ever has to stay the same, it sounds like it’s time you performed a major makeover on your domicile! We have listed some remodelling ideas that may please your new sensibilities, so have a look!

Flooring – Linoleum, linoleum, linoleum, everywhere you look it’s linoleum. What were you thinking? Tear that stuff out of there and replace it with highly attractive and classic timber flooring in Sydney that will make your house look elegant and stylish with its natural colours and smooth finish! It’s a simple fact, wood always looks good!

Walls and Ceilings – The whole place is off-white, every single room. This has been the go-to real estate agent colour choice for house selling for decades, but let’s face it, off-white is more boring than watching (we can’t help ourselves) paint dry! First off, why not a different colour? Moreover, why not a different colour for every room? Go wild and paint the place like a rainbow! We recommend bright shades like canary yellow, solar orange, and spring green for the kitchen and bath, and darker shades like navy blue, spearmint green, and dark rose red for the living and dining areas. Sky blues and forest greens are said to help you sleep better, so do the bedrooms in those. You don’t need to be an interior designer, the main thing is to choose colours that make you feel good about being in your home, that’s what this is all about!

Doorways and Walls – OK, bear with me here- the chances are you have too many of both. There is a wall and a doorway between the kitchen and the dining room, and another wall and doorway between the dining room and the living room. Why? It just makes the place look smaller and feel cramped. Tear down your wall, Mr Homeowner! Imagine standing in your kitchen finishing dinner while you chat with friends and family sitting at the dining room table, and be able to watch the game playing on the flatscreen wall TV in the family room! Space, vast, beautiful space! The openness and the added light will transform your home from a maze of little interconnected rooms into a fun and exciting plaza you can breathe freely in. Just one thing- you had probably left the wall between the bathroom and the hall intact, that’s the one place where some privacy is a really a good idea!

We recommend you walk around your home as it is and make a list of the things you would like to change, then draw up some sketches. Once you know what you want, go for it! It will be like living in a brand new home built just for you!
