A pop artist with a social conscience, who has touched millions of lives around the world with her music and benevolence, Ariana Grande. She acted in theatre plays and musicals throughout her childhood. She began her acting career at the Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theater, her first role as the main character was in the production of ‘Annie’ by ‘Geggis Anne’. She also performed in musicals such as The Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast. She debuted in national television by appearance singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” for the Florida Panthers. Ariana won a ‘National Youth Theatre Association Award’ for her role in Broadway production ‘13’ as ‘Charlotte’. Ariana always believed that singing was her true calling, so she recorded covers of various songs and uploaded them on YouTube. The company Republic Records happened to see these videos and were immensely impressed by her amazing vocals. She was signed by the company in 2011.

From there Ariana’s musical career skyrocketed. She has been in the Time’s annual list of the ‘100 most influential people in the world’ and Forbes’ list of the highest paid women in music’ multiple times. Billboard has also acknowledged her as Woman of the Year (2018) and ‘the most accomplished female artist to debut in the 2010’s’. Her song ‘Dangerous Woman’ debuted at number two on ‘Billboard 200’. It also debuted at number two in Japan, and at number one in several other markets, like Australia, the Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand and the UK. Her song ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ was at a peak position of number two on the charts in Australia. Her album ‘Sweetener’ won her a Grammy, for the ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ in 2109. In 2017 she was named ‘Female Artist of the Year’ by Billboard magazine. Her song ‘Thank You Next’ topped the Billboard chart in February 2019 with three hundred seven million streams and one lakh sixteen thousand in sales. She won the award for ‘International Solo Artist’ consecutively in the years 2018 and 2019. Her latest song ‘positions’ has more than fifty three million views on YouTube.  

Other than being immensely accomplished in the music industry Ariana is also the most followed woman on Instagram and she uses her platform to advocate for gender, racial and LGBT equality. She also has her own fragrance line that has achieved global sales of a hundred and fifty million dollars. Her fragrance ‘Cloud’ has been awarded the ‘Fragrance of the Year Award’ (2019).

Ariana’s concert held in Manchester Arena was the target of a suicide bombing attack.  Due to the unfortunate events Ariana suspended the rest of the concert and held a televised benefit concert instead. She also held the ‘One Love Manchester’ concert to aid the victim’s families. Through the concert, they raised around twenty three million dollars. Following this charity concert, she was named the ‘First Honorary Citizen of Manchester’ by the Manchester City Council to recognize her efforts. The ‘We Love Manchester Fund’ charity has announced that Ariana Grande will become the charity’s first patron.

Ariana also sponsors many other charities and foundations like the ‘Cancer Research Institute’, ‘PETA’, ‘Make-A-Wish Foundation’, ‘Melanoma Research Alliance’, ‘Stand Up To Cancer’, ‘TJ Martell Foundation’ to name a few. In 2016, Ariana launched a line of lip shades called “Ariana Grande’s MAC Viva Glam”, the profits from the makeup line went towards people affected by HIV and AIDS.

She was featured in ‘Seventeen’ magazine in 2013, in a campaign to help end online bullying. The campaign was called ‘Delete Digital Drama’. Ariana also urged her fans to stop supporting oceanariums like ‘SeaWorld’ after watching the documentary film ‘Blackfish’. Blackfish is a film that displays the cruelty towards aquatic animals that are held captive in oceanariums and theme parks.

During the Black Lives Matter protests, Ariana joined the peaceful protest in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood to advocate for an end to racial violence and police brutality. She took to Twitter to tell her fans and followers to sign petitions and make donations. She also implored everyone not to ignore the many peaceful protests going on. Since by then some Los Angeles protests had become violent and led to the protesters looting the stores in the areas they were protesting. This news dominated the news coverage and they only shone the spotlight on the violent protests.

Her magnanimity, charismatic personality, social conscience and heavenly vocals are the reason she’s loved by millions of people around the globe. Needless to say, she is more than deserving of the title of ‘The Most Famous Singer’.
