Falling for a Dancer
( The poem is from the viewpoint of an admirer who sees a beautiful girl dancing sagely and in the moment he finds himself in awe. The poem captures the blend of admiration, longing, and the almost sacred experience of witnessing someone immersed in their art)
As she steps her pale feet on the coarse floor,
a sudden gleam embraces her.
Unbeknownst to her, a longing lover awaits
to embrace their beloved.
She twirls her beautiful yellow skirt,
a beautiful canopy
a bower on a sweltering day.
Her beautiful arched limbs
reach for the endless sky
as she hopes to hug the mystical spirits
her eyes turn crescent with joy
then she calmly closes her twinkling moons
and along the rhythm of her heart
she dances,
she dances carefree of her distant admirers
and dances
for the spirited audience with a mesmerized awe.
a silent applause
she bows down and
takes another turn with her golden locks in air
dancing along with the spirits
her lips curl into a beautiful melody,
a smile, a halo
like a new found muse,
I capture,
a beautiful image in my head.
If I could just once,
with her dance in my dreams,
with our fingers tangled,
and twirl on the same floor endlessly,
with a longing wish to be discovered
but a fear that if she does,
she would never dance so sagely.
