Bend your knees, squat down on the soles of your feet, and feel if your toes are hitting the tip of the shoe. If this is the case, it is because it is too small & it is not the right size. Your forefoot should not be compressed or float. Usually you know your shoe size, but from one brand to another it can sometimes differ. For example, one day I bought a nice pair of tall black combat boots, in 39.

My usual size. I didn’t do this little exercise. I quickly realized after wearing them for a day that unfortunately I would have to sell them again because my toes and forefoot were too tight. Fortunately, my best friend bought them back from me for a reasonable price. Goodbye beautiful little boots, I liked you but you wore too small!

A question of socks

It might seem obvious, but don’t forget to try on your pair of shoes with the right sock if it’s not a barefoot style. Neither too thin nor too thick. Think about it before you go, I often had to ask my charming saleswoman for a sock because I had left without.

Leather, if not nothing

Also take the time to touch the coveted object, to look at the details, the material, the finishes . Is the outsole made of leather? Is there a sockliner (insole to prevent sweating)? Is the latter made of leather ? What does the official label say about the materials used like sheepskin slippers womens? You must not be deceived about the quality of the merchandise .

The right combination with your clothes

Imagine the outfits with which this pair of shoes can be worn. There is no point in buying a model or type of shoe if you cannot match it with your clothes of threads and motifs . This will only be rare if you have a well-stocked wardrobe, but it’s best to think about it in advance. Think for example of the colors of shoes you already have to vary them; to those you miss & which would nevertheless go perfectly well with your clothes. And don’t set too many limits for yourself, either. A pair of bright red or lemon yellow pumps can always delight you and put you in a good mood, as long as you wear it with a sober outfit or basics.. It’s all a question of dosage …

To ask questions

Never hesitate to ask the salesperson one or more questions . If the store has a benevolent and commercial spirit , she will not hesitate to answer you. Asking questions is a sign of interest, not mistrust. This is called good skepticism. Some examples: do you have good feedback from this pair of shoes? Do you know if it is solid? Comfortable? Have you worn it yourself?

Focus on quality Depending on the price ,

also know that certain criteria are essential after a certain budget. I will talk about it in a future article, a shoe at 50 euros is not a shoe at 100 or 150 euros . There is a clear difference in build quality . Rather than quantity, bet on quality, your feet will thank you and your wallet too because in the end, you will keep the model much longer. And if it’s a crush, it’s all the more satisfying to say that the pair will last for several seasons . Frankly if from the first moments, it does not stick, if you feel discomfort when walking or friction , let it go. The shoe is not right for you. And this is completely normal, there are  different morphologies of the foot and it is important to know your own morphology to choose the models that suit us
