With more focus on science and technology now there are some specialized
courses also available in the science journalism being offered by Indian Science
Communication Society (ISCOS). Moreover, with surge in the number of job
opportunities, there are now diploma and advanced diploma courses available in
scientific writing and medical journalism which makes the person well verse with
the market demand and requirements of the industry. Recently, a Department of
Biotechnology, government of India in collaboration with Nature India launched
India Science Media Fellowships to support Indian journalists to build a body of
science based journalistic work. It is aimed at boosting the coverage of science
by the India media to enrich public engagement and understanding of science
and related policy matters.
Average salary received by a scientific writers vary a lot. It depends on the
scientific acumen of the person and ability to explain the facts in simple language
to the general public. Furthermore, renowned scientists are often paid more in
comparison to those who are naïve with the current scientific happening.
However, if you have the passion for science, there is no limit to how much a
person can earn in this field
