CHAPTER 10
That night, Mr. Vaken did not sleep. It is true that if you have a
flashback to a past experience, you have a sudden and clear
memory of it. He recalled his friendship with Mr. Shemp &
ended up thinking that- (To himself)
“Mr. Shemp was a very disciplined, hard-working, ambitious
and a kind-hearted fellow. One could see him only in a decent
clothing- formals. He had a robust physique. He was always
devoted to his work. With planning and diligence, he became
able to set up a new business. He was also a nature-lover. He
had no children and his wife died of blood-cancer. Physically,
Mr. Shemp was a muscular man with green eyes and a trendy
haircut which made his face very photogenic. The most
characteristic thing about him was his unparalled sense of
humour. It is rare to cheer everybody in different
circumstances, but he always managed to do it. His refrain
was- “REALLY”. He was fond of swimming. Being heroic and
daredevil, he always liked to go on a trek in his leisure time to
spend few days with nature in the desolated places of high
altitudes. The great height with the splendid beauty of the
mountain ranges always attracted him”.
Mr. Vaken remembered how Shemp demanded for a
pineapple painting as Shemp was a pineapple-lover. Shemp
always asked for Mr. Vaken’s company, when he wanted to go
on an outing. How Mr. Vaken could be able to forget all the
happy memories with Shemp? Mr. Vaken got distraught while
