Animation
A career choice that has long
existed but lately grabbed
attention is that of
animators. For several years
now, animation has been
stealing into our lives
through ways other than the
popular children’s cartoon
movies. Small clips on the
net, advertisements and even
many logos contain
animation. It is a job that
requires the rare
combination of a sharp
mind and bright imagination. The imagery that you build needs to be too
attractive or realistic–just as per demand. Figure in the left shows Mickey Mouse,
a famous cartoon character created by Walt Disney.
Opportunities in India
Two Lakh Fifty Thousand Rupees is the approximate yearly salary of an
animator in India. However, learning better skills could upgrade it. One must be
familiar with the Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Autodesk 3D Max. If
your work is nice, you will not find it very hard to join any animation studio.
Loads and loads of such movies are coming up on the internet and TV each
year; therefore, this industry is nowhere close to declining. It is an upcoming
profession, and no one with creativity and interest should hold themselves back.
What is Animation?
There are twenty-four frames in each second. When we put together a series of
images in which a thing slowly changes its shape or location, it creates an illusion
of movement. In earlier times images were drawn by hand, photographed and
played together as a video. It was an excruciatingly slow process. For each full
length or even short animation movie, thousands of images had to be drawn and
painted. The slightest error caused an otherwise fine drawing to be rejected and
drawn again. Thankfully, animation today does not need one-hundredth of that
labour!
