most common ways in which a man would become a
pirate was through actually being captured by them. But,
my case was different, it was “Like father like son”. I was
born into the life of piracy. My father was a pirate with a

fleet of his own. I was raised on ships & after a youth in
apprenticeship so to speak, I took over his fleet & his
trade when he died. Following your father’s footsteps as a

sea-rover was less common than a family blacksmithing
business, but it was not unheard of. Over the years, I
became a buccaneer who acted in a recklessly
adventurous & often unscrupulous way & always sought
pleasure, wealth etc. through adventurous exploits.”

greed for money & possessions compelled me to arrange
