making pasta by hand on a traditional wooden
board just like a real pasta granny. She used her
hands to roll out ropes of dough & chopped those
into shorter chunks which she then molded into
small, rounded discs by pressing the dough into
her thumb. The finished shape got flicked onto a
nearby tray. Meanwhile, the doorbell rang.
Grandma opened the door hastily & welcomed a
filmmaker & the videographer graciously.
Actually, it was all preplanned to record a pasta
lesson in Grandma’s kitchen as that filmmaker was
trying to preserve the art of handmade pasta by
turning Pasta Grannies into video stars. Videos
were shot in home kitchen & sideyards with
minimal styling, to be featured on the filmmaker’s
popular food channel on social media showcasing
small-knobby pasta in-making by Grandma
Zomeshia Lifen. Pet bunny Jimz, an adorable
critter of Lifen family also gave a good company
to Grandma. Grandma’s pasta lesson lasted for
about 2 hours & she made 12 pounds of pasta.
